The Onkyo TX-NR5007 is 9.2 capable, whereby in addition to the current HD formats the new Dolby ProLogic IIz is also available. This allows, in addition to the 7.1 or 7.2 setup, controlling an additional 2 Front-Effect loudspeakers in the setup for an improved spatial reproduction of the effects that take place in front of the listener. The Onkyo TX-NR5007 is THX Ultra2 Plus certified and has the Audyssey MultEQ XT, DSX, Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume technologies on board. Ethernet connection enables streaming from a NAS server as well as reception of Internet Radio stations. A Zone2 and Zone3 control is available and the TX-NR5007 offers upscaling to HDMI with ISF Video Calibration. The images can be offered to 1 of the 2 HDMI outputs. In case of the TX-NR5007, the scaling is even provided by the HQV Reon-VX processing. In addition to a more powerful loudspeaker control, these receivers also provide an HDMI connection at the front, USB port for MP3 reproduction from a USB stick and Onkyo's VLSC switch. The TX-NR5007 offers a very good power provision to the loudspeakers by using a heavy supply. There are also robust, guilded loudspeaker clamps.
