Olive

Olive was founded in 2005 by Dr Oliver Bergmann and Robert Altmann. The direct cause for founding Olive was not only their passion for engineering, but mostly the combination of engineering and music.

Dr Bergmann was immediately impressed by the fact that digital technologies enabled everybody to buy, store, share and manage music. Thanks to products such as the iPod™, everybody could carry thousands of songs in their trouser pockets. The only setback, in Dr Bergmann's opinion, was the quality loss when the music was compressed. This was a compromise which was unacceptable to the real music lover.

Since he himself was a great music lover, he did not want to do concessions in terms of quality. The founders were convinced, that it should be technologically possible to reproduce music with high quality. This resulted in the founding of Olive Media Products.
