
Ortofon was founded in 1918 by two Danish engineers, Axel Petersen and Arnold Poulsen. These two pioneers had a very clear objective in mind - to put sound on film. With this idea, they founded the Electrical Fonofilms Company A/S, which was later renamed to Ortofon A/S. A few years later, in the Palace Theater in Copenhagen, they presented the first fully synchronized sound-films and thus caused a worldwide sensation.
