Quad 909

Power Amplifier

QUAD 909 uses QUAD’s patented Current Dumping technology and offers 2x 140 watts at 8 ohms or 2x 200 watts at 4 ohms. Core of that technology is a high quality small class A amplifier controlling the behaviour of a heavy class B amplifier, as a result of which all kinds of settings halfway through production (and in the later life of the amplifier!) are eliminated. Think of our brains controlling our muscles. Without our brains, our muscles would be very simple, class B you might say. The result at the loudspeaker outputs is a quality and accuracy that only and fully depends on the small class A amplifier, which in the 909 is designed in such a way that it complies with the most demanding requirements.Crossover distortion, quiescent current setting, extreme thermal sensitivity and the need to pair semiconductors: all these discomforts belong to the past, thanks to Current Dumping. The 909 deserves its title as one of the most beautiful amplifiers of this moment.
